Q1.How would you describe Flicbox in under 50 words?

Flicbox is India’s first D-Commerce company for chocolates.D-Commerce , which stands for Discovery commerce, is a new and an upcoming subscription based model where the content of the shipment is different each month. So basically, when you subscribe to Flicbox, we ship you high quality premium chocolates at your doorstep every month. We cover all the brands from gourmet to International brands like Lindt, Hershey’s, etc. We ship new chocolates for you to try every month. So not only do you get to try new and different chocolates each month, but there’ll also be an element of surprise with each delivery.

Q2.Who is the team behind your venture?

We are a team of 5 – Akshay Dipali, the director is from an engineering background with the brain behind the idea. Jinal Shah, is a CA and the Finance director. Neeraj Talele, an experienced software tester, is the Technical Director. Rohit Joshi, is the Marketing director and Monil Shah is into operations.

Q3.How did you acquire your first customers and what has been the learning along the way?

Being a startup, we lacked funds when we started off. So we made use of our friends and family circle to sell our products in the beginning. We networked as much as we can and still do to increase our database.

Q4.Who is your typical customer?

Our typical consumer is chocolate-loving, middle to higher-middle class with age demography of 15-40 years old.

Q5.If you could only give one piece of advice, what would it be?

My advice doesn’t come with a lot of bells and whistles. It is simple. As an entrepreneur, you’re going to face a lot of problems but not giving up is the key. Don’t quit. You can always pivot, but quitting isn’t an option.

Q6.Can you convince the reader to start buying Flicbox product?

One advantage of Flicbox is that our chocolates are upto 80% cheaper than the market price. For example, a Toblerone that’ll cost you anywhere between 400-600 in the market, will cost you just 150-200 through Flicbox subscription.

Q7.How did you come across this idea? What was missing from the current solutions that you are seeking to fix?

We saw that life was too mechanical for any age group in this corporate world and we wanted to make a small attempt to bring a smile on their faces. What better than chocolate. Chocolate makes everybody smile. But we thought of taking it a step further. We thought of not just selling the chocolates for cheap, but to package it in a subscription model as a surprise every month.

Q8.What are the future plans for growth?

We plan to go pan India soon and then to capture more domains other than chocolates.

Q9.What is the biggest hurdle you have faced or are still facing?

The biggest problem is the money. It’s so easy to spend the money to get things right. But it is very difficult to bootstrap.
